Udupi: The World against Child Labour Day was celebrated at DC office, Manipal on Thursday 12, 2014.


On the occasion, Minister Incharge, Vinay Kumar Sorake said that “child labour is a curse”. It takes away the rights to live a happy childhood. Every child has right to get education.
He added that it is the responsibility of everyone to keep child labour away from the society. More awareness should be created with regards to child labour. He emphasized the importance of celebrating the anti child Labour Day.
Child trafficking is increasing day by day. Children are used to begging at the traffic points. In the district the child labors are used mostly in hotel and mining works. Improving industries are also another reason for child labour, the minister noted.
Sorake said that wide awareness is a must against child labour, for which progrmmes like street plays, putting up of hoardings and flexes is necessary.
