Karkala : Forest Department personnel have seized a lorry which was transporting timber logs of illegally felled trees located on a private land. Acting on a tip off the forest staff  intercepted the lorry bearing Registration No. KA 04-B-4855 at Varanga and seized the valuable wooden logs.

The accused has been identified as Vishwanath Poojari. The value of the vehicle and the seized wood  has been estimated at Rs 5.5 lakhs.  The operation under the direction of  Karkala Range Forest Officer KV Subrahmanya was participated by Forest Guards Raghavendra and Manjunath among others.
