Sincerely strive to solve problems of DK : Ivan

Mangalore: MLC Ivan D’Souza has said that he has raised various vital issues pertaining to the district in the Legislative Council and has secured replies from ministers regarding the same.

Speaking to reporters in the city on Monday August 11, Ivan said he has raised the issues pertaining to encouragement of jasmine cultivation,constitution of a Teachers’  Recruitment Board to  systematise appointment of teachers,  to hold meetings of Knowledge Commission once in two or three months, the demand to set up a High Court Bench in Mangalore, expansion of runway of the Mangalore International Airport, inclusion of Tulu in Eighth Schedule of the Constitution  and such other demands.

He further said he would see to it that the assurances given by ministers with regard to the demands, are fulfilled and assured sincere efforts to solve the problems of the district.

Ivan said  he has also visited the Passport Seva Kendra in Mangalore to know the problems and added he would be meeting the Regional Passport authorities in Mangalore to make arrangements for clearing  1000 passport applications in place of the present 350 applications.

He further said  he had participated in the Council session for 27 out of the 28 days on which sessions were held after he was nominated. He also stated that he had raised  38 questions so far.

Ibrahim Kodijal, District Congress Interim President Shashidhar Hegde, former Mayor, Mithun Rai, District Youth Congress President  and others were present.
