Moodbidri :Sudatta Jain, Founder President of the Akhila Bharatha Karmika Sangha has said that his organisation would stage a protest in front of the Nellikaru Gram Panchayat office on September 1 from  10 am to 11 am demanding compensation to the family of Vasanthi Poojarti of Nellikar which is in a desperate state after she lost her son Prashanth who met a watery grave while performing the Pinda Pradana of his father at the Uppinangady  river.

Speaking to reporters, he has alleged that the authorities have been hesitant to provide compensation to the family despite appeal to the DC, Tahsildars of Puttur and Moodbidri and local  village accountant. He also said the local MLA and state minister Abhayachandra Jain has so far not met the bereaved family and alleged that the  minister never   has visited any distressed family to console it.

He further said the authorities who have provided compensation to the person who drowned in Ullal recently and for the family of Kabeer who was killed in Shringeri shoot-out  were however biased  in not offering compensation to  the Vasanthi Poojarti family and alleged this was because Vasanthi was a BJP worker.

He further said no security system is in place on the river banks at Uppinangady and urged the government to provide compensation to the family on humanitarian grounds.

Vasanthi Poojarti,  Dinesh JP, Organising Secretary of  the Karmika Sanghatane and Mahendra Mayilodi were present at the press meet.
