Siddaramaiah to inaugurate Regional Science Center at Pilikula

Mangalore: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Union minister Shripad Yesso Naik will inaugurate state’s second regional science center at Pilikula on Wednesday October 1 at 11am, said district in-charge minister B. Ramanath Rai on Monday.

The centre has been built at an estimated cost of Rs. 11.5 crore with funds from both the Union and the state Governments.

State minister Abhayachandra Jain will preside over the inauguration function.

Spread over 10 acres and built by the National Council of Science Museums, Kolkata, the centre will organize a series of programs to popularize science. The center has facilities such as a conference hall, virtual laboratory, library, computer room, meeting hall, exhibition hall, fun science section , sports and games facilities.

The first regional science centre in the state was opened at Dharwad in 2012, which was built at a cost of Rs 10.5 crore. The third regional science centre will come up in Mysore at a cost of Rs 14.5 crore.

The centre has been named as Mangalore Pilikula Regional Science Centre.
