Siddantha Darshana Basadi burgled: Idols worth Rs 13 crores stolen

Moodbidri : Ancient idols worth nearly Rs 13 crores have been reported stolen in a major burglary reported from the famous Siddantha Pratima Darshana Basadi here on July 5, Friday night. The stolen idols include gold, silver and Panchaloha idols.

It is said the thieves gained entry into the Basadi by breaking upon the windows of the Mandir behind the Basadi using a gas cutter. The thief who had fully covered his body had also cut off the CC Camera connection. Still some footages of the theft have been recorded. Incidentally,  the theft took place when Sri Charukeerthi Pandithacharyavarya Swamiji of Jain Mutt is away on a US tour.

Moodbidri police are at the spot and are carrying out investigations. Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, State minister Abhayachandra Jain, senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojari  and former minister  Amarnath Shetty also visited the Basadi.
