Bantwal: District in-charge and state Minister for Forest Ramanath Rai inaugurated the police outpost at Siddakkatte in Bantwal taluk on August 15. The outpost will cover five villages as of now, out of seven proposed villages.
Dedicating the outpost minister Rai said that he will discuss with the state home minister to recruit policemen according to the population of the area to maintain a balanced ratio.
“The police have the responsibility to protect lives, property in addition to serving the weaker sections of the society. The police have to control the latest surge of people laying siege and picketing police stations and at the same people should inform about unlawful activities to the police as and when they notice to help the police department,” he said.
Continuing further the minister said, this outpost will include Kukkipadi and Yeliya Nadugodu villages in the future. He emphasized that the taluk already has town, rural and traffic police stations.
Speaking on the occasion chief whip in the state legislative council Ivan D’souza said, “The police functioning will have direct impact on the government. The state home minister has taken a historic decision to recruit to recruit 20000 policemen in state police force which should put an end to their problems in the future”.
Western range Inspector General of Police Arun Chakravarthi said, police patrolling has been intensified recently and reiterated that efforts are on to make police stations people-friendly.
Dakshina Kannada DC Dr.KG Jagadish, Bantwal tahsildar Purandar Hedge, DySP Ravish,ZP member Chandrashekar Shetty and many others from taluk and gram panchayths along with officials from police and revenue and other departments were present on the occasion.
The welcome address was delivered by Additional SP, Dr. CB Vedamurthy whereas vote of thanks by district SP Gulabrao Borase.
With the new outpost has come as realisation of a long pending demand of people of Siddakkatte and nearby villages like Sangabettu.
