Mangalore : The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Central Council of Mangalore Diocese now has a new President. Sheldon Crasta of Bendore was unanimously elected as the Chief and Joshwa Dsouza was elected as vice president at the 66th general body meeting of the ICYM Central council held at Rosario Church Hall on July 7, Sunday.
JR Lobo, MLA of Mangalore South constituency, who was the chief guest, commended the contributions of ICYM to the society and exhorted youngsters of the community to be a part of this organization.Later he inagurated the official magazine of ICYM “Amcho Yuvak”, which publishes the articles of young writers of mangalore diocese.
ICYM unit of Balkunje which was adjudged the Best Unit and also the Moodbidri and Paladka units which were adjudged the second and third best units were felicitated at the function. Fr JB Crasta, Parish Priest of Rosario Church, Fr Ronald DSouza, Director of ICYM were the chief guests.
The newly elected office bearers of the ICYM Central Council are as follows : Joshua DSouza, Agrar, Daphney Veigas, Manjeshwar (Vice Presidents), Ashwini DSouza, Puttur (Secretary), Merlin Fernandes, Neermarga (Joint Secretary), Joel Mascarenhas, Madantyar(Treasurer), Rayan Rodrigues, Moodbidri(Auditor).
Earlier former president Mr. Nelson Monis conducted the 66th general body meeting taking into consideration of all the suggestions given by the youth of Mangalore diocese. Former general secretary Sheldon Crasta presented the annual report to the gathering which focusses various activities conducted by the central council. Later Ivan Dsouza presented the audits of the previous year which was approved by auditor Joshwa Dsouza.
