Mangaluru: BJP National President Amit Shah had cancelled his visit to Mangaluru post his appearance in Kerala for the rally. BJP District President Sanjeeva Matandoor informed the press that Shah had to cancel his meetings in Mangaluru as his presence was required in New Delhi.
However, sources claim that the real reason for Shah’s hurried departure was his growing displeasure with state’s BJP leaders.
There has been growing friction between party members over the last year, it is said. Shah had asked the members to stay united and keep the party before their personal interests. He also asked them to back Yeddyurappa in the upcoming elections.
Despite Shah’s calls for unity, there has been factionalism bubbling underneath the surface resulting from the egos of the various BJP leaders as there are many who support another prominent BJP figure, B.L. Santhosh.
