Kasargod: A fire devastated two godowns and seven shops located in an old building across the fish market road on Thursday January 16.





The total loss of material is assessed to be above Rs 50 lakhs.Fortunately there were no casualties.
According to the sources, the cause of the fire is assumed to be a short circuit that blazed through the shops, which were on the ground floor and later the fire reached the first floor where the godowns were located. The incident occurred early in the morning thus the rescue was delayed.
Passersby who noticed the flames, informed the fire service station and alerted the people in the neighbourhood. Fire tenders from Kasargod and Uppala rushed to the spot. Even the locals assisted in putting out the fire.
A case has been registered in Kasargod police station.
