
Mangaluru: Serial killer Cyanide Mohan has been convicted in another rape and murder case, by the sixth additional district and sessions court, which is the 16th case in which Mohan has been convicted.
The quantum of the punishment is likely to be announced on September 25. A total of 20 cases, pertaining to rape and murder were filed against him so far.
Mohan, who was a teacher by profession, had befriended the 33-year-old woman, who was a music teacher from Bekur at Upplala. Mohan introduced himself as Sudhakar Acharya, an employee of the forest department.
Mohan promised marriage to the woman. Later, when he gained her confidence, he had asked her to come along with him. The lady had left the house stating that she had a music recording, on May 28, 2007. The duo went to Bengaluru and stayed at a lodge. The next day, Mohan told her to get ready to go for a pooja and asked her to leave all her gold ornaments. After, they reached a bus stand in Bengaluru, he convinced her to take a contraceptive tablet, but gave her cyanide instead. Believing it to be a contraceptive pill, she consumed it and died. It is the same Modus operand that Mohan used on all his victims.
A case was registered against Mohan, by the victim’s family in 2009.
