Seminar on media concludes at St. Aloysius College

Mangalore: A two-day UGC sponsored national seminar ‘Media Manthan’ on ‘Changing News Landscapes in India: Prospects and Challenges’ concluded on a grand note, with the participation of an author and a media educator Prof. Mrinal Chatterjee, Director of IIMC, Orissa on Saturday.

In his address, Professor Mrinal Chatterjee, director of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication Orissa said, “In all the conferences I look forward to interesting papers, innovative analysis, something new and something that can practically help the praxis in particular and the society in general. I am happy to say that in this seminar I have found four such papers which throw new light in their chosen field of study, the seminar has been a success according to me and the sessions are incredibly fruitful.”

Besides, the fest was not only a host to academicians but also students from various colleges across the country. Nearly hundred students participated in competitions like live reporting, photography, mime and quiz. The overall championship was bagged by Alva’s college, Moodbidri.

There were paper presentations from colleges across the country, which included new ideas through various topics like legal and ethical aspect of surrogate advertising: a critical study, shifting borderlines in the practice of verification: some social media lessons from India and many more interesting and up-to-date topics were presented in  the seminar.

The function ended on a colorful note with performances by the students of St. Aloysius College.
