Secretary to Union Ministry lauds Pilikula Nisargadhama

Mangaluru: Secretary to Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Upendra Tripathy on Friday visited Dakshina Kannada following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction to secretaries of the Government of India to visit their first places of posting.

Mr. Tripathy was first posted as the Assistant Commissioner of Puttur Sub Division in 1982. On Friday, he participated in the meeting of district level officials convened by Deputy Commissioner A.B Ibrahim.

Mr. Tripathy said he was impressed by Pilikula Nisargadhama and the way it has come up. He congratulated all those who were responsible for its present status. 

Meanwhile, he asked Mr. Ibrahim, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Nisargadhama, to arrange a corpus of about Rs 30 crore and use the interest of proceeds for regular maintenance of the park.

Besides, he also asked the Mescom to set apart Rs 25 crore to energies the Dr. K. Shovaram Karanth Piikula Nisargadhama through alternative sources of energy.
