Mangaluru: Site engineer of Lady Goshen hospital’s new block that is under construction on Saturday was at the receiving end, when former union minister M Veerappa Moily chided him over the telephone for stalling the work for over 15 days. He reprimanded the engineer – Pradeep and ordered him to complete the  constriction immediately.

Moily who visited the under-construction site in the morning hours to review the work expressed his dissatisfaction with the speed at which the contactor was doing the work.

He telephoned the site engineer  the same instant, and said that he would talk to the contactor, apart from saying “I am not satisfied with the work.” During his telephonic conversation, he ordered the site engineer to speed up the work and end it before July 2015 as the contractor  had promised to deliver.

After his brief walk around the building, he told the  press  that there was no delay in releasing funds to the contactor by the Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemical Limited. The PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) company, as of now, has released as much as RS 9 crore, of the Rs. 21.70 crore sanctioned. He assured that within July the block would be ready to house patients.

When press persons asked if he will  congratulate the BJP led NDA government for cracking  down on corporate espionage mainly from petroleum ministry located at Shastri Bhavan, he told he would not. “Espionage occurred in BJP’s tenure and how can I laud the BJP.” When further quizzed on the issue  of whether he will blame BJP for the leakage, he argued he would not blame anyone and said he would not like to comment much on the issue.
