Sea erosion damages 2 houses at Mogaveerapatna

Ullal:  Sea erosion continues to haunt Ullal area with people along the shoreline spending restless days and sleepless nights.

The sea erosion has already damaged two houses near Ullal Mogaveerapatna while over 25 houses in the area are in danger.

On Thursday July 17 at around 2.30 in the afternoon, a large wave swept away through a residents house incurring severe damage. The resident identified as Gauri Sudheer, along with her daughter who is pregnant were in the house.

Fortunately none of them got injured but the house was dented.Aapart from this other six  houses have also been damaged.

Gauri said  her family was poor and helpless and urged the government to come to the  help of the people affected by sea erosion. Her house has been completely destroyed along with the roof thus she pleaded the government to compensate for the loss.

ZP Vice President Satish Kumpala who visited the affected places, said   officials and elected representatives have only been visiting the sea erosion hit places every year but have not done anything concrete to solve the problem. He also criticised Fisheries Minister Abhayachandra Jain for not visiting the affected  places. It is now the responsibility of the government to come to the aid of the affected families, he said.

Several leaders including Babu Bangera, Yashwanth Amin, Chandrashekhar Uchil,Hariyappa Salian, Meenakshi Bangera, Premanatha Putran,  Jeevan, Damodar Ullal, Lakshman Puthran and Kishor Puthran were present.
