Scribe arrested for murdering wife remanded to judicial custody

Mangalore : The Second JMFC Court has remanded Gangadhar Padubidri, a stringer working for Doordarshan who has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife, to judicial custody  till July 30.

Gangadhar who was arrested on July 15, Monday was produced before the court on July 16.  It is said Gangadhar who had a quarrel with his wife Mamatha Shetty, an Assistant Professor in SDM Law College, had  eventually strangulated her with a shawl and had killed her.

Police had arrested Gangadhar who was at home after committing the crime even as the body of his wife lay on the dining hall. He also admitted his guilt during interrogation.

It is said Gangadhar strangulated his wife who reportedly questioned his fidelity. The police have booked him under Section 302 of the IPC, informed ACP Kavitha.
