Mangalore : Police who are investigating into the case of murder of a youth at Hoigebail in Urva station limits on Thursday May 22  afternoon,  have succeeded in gathering details  regarding the background of the case.

Probe into the case has made it evident that Sanjay alias Varun, a resident of Bolur was hacked to death by a gang of three. The accused have been named as Ashrith (22), son of former corporator Bajilakeri Kamalaksha and the former’s friends Chinnu and Jayaprakash.

It is learnt, Sanjay and his friends had tortured one of the accused a month ago, using cigarette butts. It is said the former corporator’s  son and his two friends had avenged this torture by killing Sanjay. It is also aid that they were waiting for the right time to execute their plan but couldn’t get hold of Sanjay.

On Thursday Morning, Ashrith and his friends who came to know of Sanjay’s arrival in Mangalore had summoned  him and questioned him for torturing their friend with cigarette butt. Their altercation  soon led to a lethal attack and they hacked Sanjay with knives on his face, neck and chest.

A police team led by Urva SI Shivashanker has been formed to nab the assailants. According to one source the assailants have been taken into custody.
