Bangalore: The vicinity of Bangalore South was left in darkness on Thursday May 23 after the thundershowers created havoc on Wednesday.

The BBMP control room received around 30 tree fall complaints whereas BESCOM received 48 complaints regarding damage and collapse of  electricity poles.

The most affected areas were Hanumathanagar, Padmanabhanagar, Hosakerehalli, Katriguppe, Girinagar, Vidyapeeta Circle, Vijayanagar and JP Nagar.

BBMP officials have informed that it would take two more days to remove the fallen tree branches. BESCOM officials said that regular power supply would resume by Friday.

The BESCOM  had been on a tree-trimming spree across the city a few days ago as  collapse of tree branches on electric poles and high-tension lines often  leads to erratic power supply during monsoons.

On Thursday, Mayor BS Sathyanarayana said 10 persons will be deployed for every three wards to keep a watch on rickety tree branches to take necessary precautionary measures.
