Moodbidri : The Mathru Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi of Niddodi has filed its strong objection to the Mulki-Niddodi-Sakleshpur railway line proposal instead of the Nandikur-Karkala-Charmady-Moodigere railway line.
The Samithi has suspected that the proposed railway line was nothing but a preparation for the setting up of the controversial Niddodi ultra mega thermal power project. In a press communiqué, Alphonse D’Souza, President of the Samithi has said that the Samithi would not tolerate any project aimed at supplementing the proposed thermal project. He further said the Samithi has information that a Union Minister hailing from the region was evincing great interest in the proposed railway line even when the Union and State Governments were not that keen in going ahead with the Niddodi project.
