Mangaluru: Security was beefed up at the entry and exit points of the city and hundreds of policemen went through the `Sagar Kavach` operation (mock drill) on Wednesday, November 6.

The operation that was launched today at 6 am, will end on Thursday at 6 pm, police sources informed. Police personnel, put on alert by higher officials, were seen intercepting vehicles at the entry and exit points of the city.

Owing to this mock drill, traffic was disrupted at some places in the city. Security was also stepped up at shopping malls and international hotels.

Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha asked the public not to panic and cooperate with the police during their checks. “If the public finds explosives or persons loitering in a suspicious manner, they should inform the police about the same,” he added.
