Mangaluru: On the eve of February 23 – the national magicians’ day, people who had gathered in large nos at Kadri Park shivered in anticipation, as they watched the breath-taking act performed by magician Sagar Eye – who was buried in ice without oxygen for fifteen minutes.


He was locked in a tall glass box using a 30-foot long chain and several locks. Ice filled the box and covered him from head to toe. Sagar Eye then escaped from the box, alive and unhurt, creating amazement among the audience that awaited his escape with bated breath.The President of Mangala Magic Circle Swarna Sundar and Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, businessman and activist along with other dignitaries were on the stage and constantly checked the authenticity of the event.
After performing his breathtaking stunt Sagar said, “It’s a really difficult stunt, and I urge the children not to try this. However I am happy that I was able to complete it will the support and encouragement of my loved ones.”
The stunt was followed by a two-hour magic show by 18 magicians from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.
Inaugurating the celebrations, Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim made a bin full of garbage disappear within seconds by waving a magic wand and everyone hoped that he could have done this for all of Mangaluru. . Mr. Ibrahim became a magician for a few minutes to spread the message of the ‘Clean Mangaluru’ campaign undertaken by Mangala Magic Circle here. The campaign comprised of road magic shows and a gala magic show at Kadri Park. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ibrahim said that he hoped that the intentions of the city’s magicians were well taken by the residents
The magicians’ association of Mangaluru organized the campaign on the occasion of National Magicians’ Day and to send a message to the denizens of the city through different kinds of magic show, said group president Swarna Sunder.
