Surathkal: Members of saffron outfits led by Hindu Jagarana Vedike leader Satyajit Surathkal picketed Surathkal police station on Tuesday late evening in protest of the clashes that erupted in Janata Colony here on Monday February 1.

Five people were injured after a gang of nine persons barged into their residence at Janatha Colony in Surathkal and attacked them, on Monday evening.

While a section claims it could be due to personal reason, many state that it is due to a long pending fight over expansion of a local Madarasa that led to the fight. It is said that the Janatha Colony stayed divided over the expansion of the local Madarasa. While residents belonging to one community insisted on expansion the other opposed it.

Satyajit alleged that the police have been favouring one community. He demanded stern action against the attackers. The protest outside the station is underway.
