Mangalore :Union Minister for Transport,Road and Highways Oscar Fernandes who addressed the Press at the Circuit House on December 30, Monday informed that a sum of Rs 95 crore has been sanctioned for the development of the Shiradi Ghat stretch of road as well as other road related concerns. Oscar said that a meeting is scheduled with state ministers, MLA, NHAI chiefs, the DC, and other officials, later in the day to discuss and rectify these issues.


Further adding to the details he said, “The project will be carried out in two phases, first phase will include road repairs at a cost of Rs 5 crore while the second phase will involve concretisation of the road stretch.”
He informed that the work on phase one has already started and the road will be ready for use by January 31, 2014. The construction of the permanent road will start from February 20 and will take approximately 18 months to complete, Oscar added.
A website has been created in which the day-to-day progress of the project will be updated and be available for monitoring to anyone and anywhere, the Minister informed.
