Mangaluru: ‘Rickshaw Challenge’- a unique adventure on auto rickshaws with participants from across the globe like UK, USA, Australia and Portugal reached the city on August 17.

Mangalore Round Table 115, in association with Madras Midtown Round Table 42 (Rickshaw Challenge authority) flagged off the event from Mallikatte Government School on August 18. The participants interacted with the school children.
Under the motto, ‘freedom through education’, the organizaton strives to provide infrastructural facilities like buildings, basic amenities, educational facilities, health services and other programmes that benefit the children of the primary schools.
One of the participant, Julian, from Scotland, speaking to NewsKarnataka said, “I am extremely happy to be part of this event. It’s inspirational to raise funds for the poor school children and visit orphanages.”
Another participant Darren from New Zealand said, “We belong to different countries like Australia, England, Canada, US, Scotland and we raise funds for round table. In India, there is a big divide between poor and the rich. In our country it is not like that. We need to bridge this gap, he said.
They will leave from Mangaluru to Mysore today. The adventure tour kick started on August 8 and on August 10th they started the journey from Mumbai.

The 2000 km Rickshaw Challenge- Mumbai Xpress 2015 is an adventure Rally/ Challenge done using Auto-rickshaws. The Rickshaw Challenge – Mumbai Xpress 2015 adventure will run for 11 days from Mumbai to Chennai ( August 10th to August 21st ), taking its teams of 16 international rickshaw racing teams of 40 participants from 9 countries on an exhilarating journey across the length and breadth of the country.

They will not only enjoy the natural beauty of the rural countryside but also sample the local cuisine and culture.
Along the way, the participants of the Rickshaw Challenge- Mumbai Xpress 2015 will be making a difference in the lives of the underprivileged by raising funds for various projects of Round Table India under their Flagship program ‘Freedom through Education’.
