Mangaluru: Rotary Ann’s Club, Mangaluru celebrated International Women’s Day here at Ocean Pearl, on March 9.

Vani Kalabhavi, President, Rotary Ann’s Club, Mangaluru welcomed the gathering.

Soujanya Hegde, a well known TV personality of Mangaluru and Sabitha Monis, Student Welfare Officer, Alva’s College, Moodbidri, were felicitated on the ocassion for excelling in their respective fields.

Soujanya Hegde, who has earned a name in art, singing, dance, acting and various other fields, said that even though she was a law graduate, she chose to get into media. “Do what you want to do. Do anything that really interests you,” she said.

Sabitha Monis, narrated her initial struggles where she was denied admission in a school. “I was denied admission and was asked to study in a special school. So I did my schooling in a special school where the inspector came to know about my academic performance and then I was moved to a regular school. I have worked very hard and gone through so many obstacles in my life for what I’m today. I thank all my friends, teachers and well-wishers.”

Yathish, President, Venkatesh Pai, Vice-President and Divakar Pai, Secretary of Rotary Club, Mangaluru were present on the occasion.

Usha Pai, Secretary and Wilma Noronha, Treasurer of Rotary Ann’s Club were also present.

Sonia Karia, Vice-President, Rotary Ann’s Club, Mangaluru, delivered the vote of thanks.
