Puttur: Robbers stormed into the house of a doctor-couple and escaped with gold and cash amounting to Rs 5 lakhs here on Sunday, April 24.
The theft took place at the house of KVG Medical college Prof Dr Subramanya Bhat and Dr Prathibha Bhat of Girija Clinic.

On April 16, the family had been to their relative’s house in Kerala. Seeing the locked house, thieves entered the house breaking open the front door and robbed gold bangles, chains, diamond ornaments and Rs 5000 cash.

The incident came to light only on Sunday, when the family returned home.

City police circle inspector Mahesh Prasad, finger print squad and canine squad inspected the house.

The thieves have also attempted robbery in nearby houses.

Based on a complaint filed by Subramanha Bhat a theft case has been registered at Puttur police station.
