Bantwal: Tense situation prevailed in Sajinadu after a fight erupted between the Congress and the SDPI activists in connection with a road show held by the Congress party.
As per the rules, no party or candidate is allowed to hold open campaigning, road shows and door-to-door visit starting 7am on Thursday, February 18.
However, SDPI leaders alleged that the Zilla Panchayat Congress candidate from Pudu had been seeking votes by holding road shows accompanied by the Health Minister and several party workers even after the deadline and added that the election officers were lenient towards them.
This led to a verbal spat between the two parties which later turned physical.
Police rushed to the spot and dispersed the mob. Additional police were deployed as a precautionary measure.
