Udupi : A macabre road mishap near Pandurli in the outskirts of Nasik in Maharashtra on June 30, Sunday has resulted in the death of three members of a family hailing from Bada Yermal near Padubidri. Four others sustained minor injuries in the mishap.
The deceased are Prashanth Suvarna (35), his wife Reshma (27) and their seven month old son Sharan. The family was settled in Mumbai and had been to a pilgrim tour to Shirdi along with some neighbouring family members.
They had hired a Chevrolet Tavera car. But for their misfortune, the driver lost control over his vehicle while negotiating a curve on GootySinnar Road resulting in the mishap. The impact of the mishap was such that the doors of the vehicle got opened and those inside were thrown onto the road. Prashanth and Reshma died on the spot while Sharan passed away in the hospital.
Prashanth worked for a private TV channel in Mumbai and had married Reshma two years ago. It is learnt, the family had visited its native place at Bada Yermal in May.
Kusuma Salian (41), Janaki Mendon (62), Shreya Salian (41), and Sushma Mendon (25) and driver Manohar Mendon, escaped with minor injuries.
The bodies were brought to their native place Bada Yermal on July 1, Monday and cremated on a single pyre. A large number of mourners had gathered on the occasion.
