Belthangady: Three rikshaw drivers turned saviours for a boy who was being washed away by river water near Mundaje here on Sunday, July 10.
Rauf(9), son of Adam had ventured into the river to wash his legs. Meanwhile, strong water currents pulled him and washed him away. However, the little boy clung onto a rock in the middle of the river and raised alarm.

Rikshaw drivers Vikram alias Vikky, Praveena and Ananda heard him shouting for help and without sparing even a second for their own lives, the trio plunged into the river and rescued Rauf. The incident took place when the boy’s family were on their way to Chikkamagaluru dargah. The family has cancelled the trip and have returned to their native.
