Renovation works of Suryarayarana Temple, Maroli begin

Mangalore : The Shree Suryanarayana Temple at Maroli in Mangalore will be renovated at a cost of Rs 15 crores. The Project includes construction of a  community hall in a land close by the temple. It has been planned to complete the renovation works in two years.

The renovation works were initiated on July 7, Sunday with the arrival of the first load of stones from Tamil Nadu. The lorry laden with stones was given a grand welcome on its arrival at Pumpwell and was taken to the temple in a procession. The procession included  cultural attractions including the Chende Team. Hundreds of devotees took part in the procession.  At the temple special pooja was offered to the stones.

A function was also held at Pumpwell in connection with the initiation of renovation works. Several  dignitaries  including  Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Monappa Bhandari, MLC, Ananthakrishna, ex-officio Chairman of Karnataka Bank, KC Naik, Chairman of Mahabaleshwara Builders, JV Seetharam, Chairman of JV Sons, Keshava, Sabitha Misquith, Praveen Chandra Alva, Asha Gretta  D’Silva, Corporators,  Balakrishna Kottary, President of the Suryanarayana Temple,Chittaranjan, President of Garodi Temple and others were present.
