Mangaluru: Rationalist Narendra Nayak alleged on Monday that he was threatened by a follower of Kashi Mutt during a chat session on Facebook. Following the threat, Nayak has filed a complaint with Urwa police.
In the complaint, Nayak who has been demanding the arrest of culprits in the murder of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga, stated that he was threatened by Shashank Shenoy, who is said to be a follower of Kashi Mutt. During a chat session on Facebook, Shashank asked Nayak not to speak against Kashi Mutt seer Samyamindra Tirtha and the Venkataramana Temple.
Shashank is also said to have told Nayak to treat it as a threat for ‘putting [his] dirty hands into a tiger’s mouth’.
In the complaint, Nayak has also mentioned some of the derogatory comments made by Goud Saraswat community members on his Facebook account after he shared a report on Vinayak Baliga murder case.
Reportedly, Nayak was also threatened by the community members to be thrown out of the Goud Saraswat community.
A case has been registered at the Urwa police station.
