Mangalore: Under the initiative of the National Book Trust (NBT), Mangalore a book fair was held, in association with Konkani Language and Culture Foundation at Nehru Maidan on Saturday January 4.














The book fair was inaugurated by District in-charge and minister for forest, ecology and environment, Ramanath Rai.
In his presidential address, he said that the understanding of a human being is based on his acquired knowledge, thus reading is very important. Furthermore he added that building up the habit of reading increases the intelligence and also improves vocabulary.
Cherishing that the NBT book fair has come back to the city after 13 long years he encouraged everyone to take part in the fair and congratulated the organizers for their initiative.
President of World Konkani Centre, Basti Vaman Shenoy along with MLA J R Lobo also expressed their views and addressed the audience on the occasion.
Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, H Nagaraj, editor of Kannada National Book Trust, K Gokuldas Prabhu, Amith Karki and many others were present. The book will end on January 12.
