
Mangaluru: “In the Goldfinch City located at Bangra Kulur, the second edition of Rama-Lakshmana Jodukere Kambala will be conducted on January 13”, said President of Kambala Samithi Cap. Brijesh Chowta, here on Thursday, January 3.
Addressing a press meet here, he said, “The only existing Kambala in the city which is also popularly known as ‘Mangaluru Kambala’ was successfully organised previous year and this year too we would like this to be a success.”
“In the modern times, people of the coastal city have long forgotten the folk sports, culture and tradition. In order to maintain this culture and tradition and spread it across generations to come, we are organising this Kambala”, he added.
Cap. Chowta informed that on January 13 at 9.30 AM, the president of Shree Brahma Baidarkala Garadi Kshetra, Kankanady K Chittaranjan will be inaugurating the event in which Mayor Bhaskar K and other dignitaries would preside over.
In the stage programme at 6 PM, the Bharatiya Janata Party State President B S Yeddyurappa, Union Minister D V Saddananda Gowda, District In-charge Minister U T Khader, MPs Nalin Kumar Kateel and Shobha Karandlaje and MLC Kota Srinivas Poojari will be joining.
On January 14 at 8 AM, the prizes for the winners will be distributed. President of Zilla Panchayat Meenakshi Shantigodu, will be presiding over the programme.
Office bearers of the Kambala Samithi Nithin Shetty Agari, Ullal Nandan Mallya, Joyce D’Souza and others were president.
