Mangaluru: With periodic party worker killings painting the political canvas of Kerala red, the district BJP is supporting a massive protest planned by Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Bajrang Dal on February 24 to oppose the visit of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The Kerala CM is scheduled to visit Dakshina Kannada district to take part in public communal harmony meeting on February 25.
Addressing the reporters here on February 22, District BJP President Sanjeev Mattandur said the party was backing the protest rally planned by the right wing organisations on February 25.
Opposing Pinari Vijayan’s visit, Mattandur said, “What is there to learn from the chief minister of Kerala on communal harmony when the entire state is blood stained with political killings of many right wing activists? The rise in the number of killings has rendered many families to refugee status, with the left sponsored goonda politics at its peak.”
The rally will begin at Jyothi Circle at 10 am and then proceed to Central Grounds via Ambedkar Circle on that day, revealed Mattandur.
He called upon the party members including MPs, MLAs, elected representatives of local bodies and party workers to come in support of the rally.
Former Mangaluru South MLA Yogish Bhat, BJP leader Monappa Bhandary among others were present during the press briefing.
