Mangaluru: Surprising, but true. A raid by the Mescom Vigilance wing at the residence of former lineman who retired just a month ago left the vigilance authorities in state of shock.

The lineman in question is Manjappa, resident of Madanthyar in Belthangady and he was possessing electrical component and cables belonging to the Mescom. Acting on a tip off, when the vigilance team raided Manjappa’s house they found materials costing about Rs 25,000 in his possession.
Damodar, a lineman at Mescom, Vogga Sub Division of Bantwal had made a written complaint to Mescom Vigilance on July 20, 2016 on the accused. The complainant said that according to his written complaint, to the vigilance, he had mentioned about 25 spans of electrical cable among other material was in possession of the accused, but according to police the estimated value of the seized material is about Rs 25,000.
With sources saying that Manjappa has been playing the Scheduled Caste card, the Vigilance officers are now opting to remain tight-lipped about the case. Hence there is no clarity on whether or not an FIR has been filed.
However, sources say that investigation has found that two local electrical contractors are associated to Manjappa in the same racket. It is also alleged that lots of materials belonging to Mescom are stocked on the road side at a secluded place.
With the post of the SP and the DySP of the vigilance wing lying vacant for a long time, one may have to wait and watch what twist the Manjappa case would take.
