Bengaluru: In an attempt to shrug off the age old allegation against the people of old Mysore region for not joining hands whenever north Karnataka faced hard times, more than 370 organizations including Dr Rajkumar Abhimanigala Sangha, Kannada Chalanachitra Academy, Kaveri Nadi Neerina Horata Samiti, Rajya Raitha Sangha, Gadinadu Kannada Horata Samiti, students associations of several colleges in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan and other districts, various artists’ associations , all based out of old Mysore region have called for another Karnataka bandh on July 30.
The Karnataka film Chamber has called off all sort of film related activities, including releases, filming, dubbing and other activities, said President of Akhila Karnataka Dr Rajkumar Abhimanigala Sangha.
The fan clubs of other actors including Tamil and Telugu actors associations, have also decided to join hands in solidarity of people who are protesting against Mahadayi interim verdict.
According to sources, Shiv Rajkumar had requested the producers and distributors to postpone his next flick slated to release on July 29. It can be recalled that whole bunch of Kannada film fraternity held protest rally demanding the implementation of Kalasa Banduri project led by Shivanna.
Meanwhile, veterans like Patil Puttappa, Chandrasekhar Patil (Champa), and others too expressed solidarity of the planned Bandh on wide canvas.
In one of the rarest of the rare incidents, employees of some of the Bengaluru based private companies too have decided to protest by banding black strip on their shoulders.
Speaking to Newskarnataka.com, Ravindra Joshi, a senior vertical head in a company said, “We have decided to demonstrate in our own way. If the company permits us, we would go for it, otherwise we are planning to go on leave on that day,” he said.
With the fine example of how Gokak Chaluvali led by Dr Raj was a historic move, now the people affected by the Mahadayi project are pinning hopes on the participation of actors for their cause.
