Udupi: A few sources informed that AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi are likely to contest the forthcoming general elections from Udupi – Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency. However, the reigning MP Jayaprakash Hegde has no information in this regard.
The rumors are going round that either Rahul or Priyanka are contesting the forthcoming general elections. It is not clear whether it was from Udupi – Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency. DCC president has no information in this regard. The union ministers Oscar Fernandes and Veerappa Moily have not revealed anything.
DCC will be convening a meeting of executive Committee related to choosing Lok Sabha candidate on August 17. The candidates recommendations will be pooled to begin the short listing.
The late Indira Gandhi had contested in the general elections from Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency about three decades ago.
