Belthangady: In a rather shocking incident, a middle aged man assaulted his mother with a sickle because his mother scolded him over some issue, on Thursday.

The accused Kushalappa (43) ended up brutally injuring his mother Lalitha at their residence in Nyayatharpu village of Badyaru in Belthangady.

Lalitha was rushed to a local hospital with injured shoulder, hands and fingers. However, the Belthangady police arrested Kushalappa following the incident. He has been remanded to 15 days of judicial custody by the court.
