Mangalore: Taking cue from ‘Magnet 2014’, a world convention of Mangalorean businessmen and entrepreneurs, which was held in April, host Rachana, Mangalore’s Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry is planning to nurture over 100 youth into entrepreneurship.

John Monteiro, president of Rachana said Rachana Entrepreneur Development Cell is formed exclusively to work to achieve this goal. MLC and former president of Ivan D’Souza in his speech asked successful entrepreneurs to support the cause. He said those who have excelled in our community in different fields must train others. Many Catholics in the past were businessman, but lately many youth went abroad”, he added.
In his key note address, Albert D’Souza, educationalist based in Mumbai asked Rachana to adopt certain methodologies to train young entrepreneurs. He asked the chamber to fetch students from engineering, medical, humanities and commerce colleges to train them with strategies such as innovation, athma prerana (inner inspiration). Tell them clearly the difference between employee and employer, he said. Besides, he asked Rachana to guide second generation businessmen to revamp their skills.
Bishop Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza asked rachana not to limit themselves to meetings but reach out to the community with realistic works. He congratulated the chamber for taking up two projects.
The committee members of ‘Magnet 2014’ handed over Rs 12.5 lakh, which is the surplus amount generated for the event to Rachana, its parental body. The corpus will be used to support ‘Magnet Venture Fund’ and ‘Rachana Cooperative Society’, which is formed to boost entrepreneurship in Mangalore
