Rachana gets new office; Christian hostel proposed to train community youth

Mangaluru: MLA J R Lobo inaugurated the new office premises of Rachana, the Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry here at the Pio Mall in Jail Road on June 20.

J R Lobo speaking on the occasion said that there are few Christian businessmen in the community as they believe that business will incur loss. They do not want their children too become entrepreneurs. He said that, finally the new office of Rachana has been opened. To promote entrepreneurship, make best use of media for further growth, he said.

Ivan Fernandes, chairman of KE Global said Rachana has encouraged many entrepreneurs and has provided over Rs 39 lakhs to them till date and it has to grow and continue in the future, he said.

MLC Ivan Dsouza promised that he would try to get grants from state government to build a Christian hostel like the Bunts hostel to ensure that youth from christian community get training to become successful entrepreneurs.

The Rachana bulletin was released by the guests on the occasion. Donors along with Ivan who has contributed to the new premises were honoured.

The programme also witnessed the celebration of 74th birthday of Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul Dsouza. Bishop wished all success to Rachana on the special occasion.

Rachana president John B Monteiro, secretary Anil Lobo, president of Konkani Sahitya Academy and former Rachana president Roy Castelino, Stany Alvares, James Mendonca, and many other NRI entrepreneurs were present.

Anil Lobo delivered the vote of thanks and Titus Noronha compered the programme.
