Pvt health care facilities in Bantwal on strike today

Bantwal:All private hospitals and  clinics in Bantwal taluk will be observing a bundh on October 7, Monday as per the call given by the local unit of the Indian Medical Association opposing the  public outrage against the   medical fraternity in the backdrop of the recent death of Sarapady Gram Panchayat Vice President Shakuntala.

It may be recalled here that the death of Shakuntala who had been admitted to a private nursing home in the town for delivery, had sparked tension as well as protests with medical negligence of the hospital authorities blamed for the tragedy.

Sureshchandra Shetty,President of Bantwal IMA has said all private nursing homes, clinics, laboratories as well as all private health facilities will be closed on Monday.

The IMA has said that patients already admitted in private hospitals will be treated, but under no circumstance will any new patient be admitted or treated  on Monday.

Meanwhile, Bantwal Taluk Medical Officer Dr Manjunath has informed that government hospitals and primary health centres would function as usual.
