Udupi: The first round of Pulse Polio immunization drive will be held on Sunday January 19, informed Dr Ramachandra Bairy, District Health Officer.
Speaking to the media, Dr Ramachandra Bairy said that arrangements have been made to administer pulse polio drops from the age group of zero to five. In Udupi taluk 41,345 children including 29,148 in rural areas and 12,197 in urban areas will be given Polio drops.
He added that in Kundapur taluk 31,081 children including 28,293 in rural areas and 2,788 in urban areas will be given Polio drops. Similarly, in Karkala taluk 15,773 children have been identified. Of them 13,870 are in rural areas and 1,903 in urban areas, he informed.
The teams will visit 2,43,734 houses and as many as 633 pulse polio immunization centers are set up in the district.
Children of migrant labourers numbering 1,326 located in 175 places will also given polio drops, he said. Nearly 633 immunization booths, 17 transit vaccination camps, 2 mobile units will be set up in the district.
