Pulincha Prasasti Conferred on Aruva Koragappa Shetty

Bantwal: Yakshagana play vital role in educating the general masses about religion and cultural hierarchy, said Prabhakr Bhat, correspondent of Rama Vidhya Kendra, Kalldka, near here.

Bhat was speaking after inaugurating the award conferring function of the first ever Pulincha Prasasti, instituted by Pulincha Seva Pratistan, at Kallurti temple, Baltila village, here on Sunday May 12.

Yakshagana educates the general masses about the mythological episodes in a lucid manner, said Bhat.

Meanwhile, the first ever Pulincha Prasasti was presented to veteran Yakshagana artiste Aruva Koragappa Shetty during the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Yakshagana artiste Kumble Sundar Rao said that the late Pulincha Ramayya Shetty emerged as extraordinary talented Yakshagana artiste in the coastal district, said Rao.

Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy former president Umanat Kotian conferred the award to Yakshagana artiste Aruva Koragappa Shetty at the occasion.

Dakshina Kannada district BJP president Padmanabha Kottari presided the programme.

Karnataka Janapad and Yakshagana Academy former member Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli delivered the felicitation address.

The progressive farmer Ulipadyguttu Rajesh Naik was the chief guest of the occasion.

Sridar Shetty Pulincha welcomed the gathering.  St Aloysius College assistant professor Pratima Sridar Shetty proposed vote of thanks.  Devdas Shetty compered the programme.
