Puttur: A murder accused who jumped the security and run away from the court even as the hearing was on, was nabbed by an alert advocate first, on Tuesday, April 5. Later the public gathered and handed him over to the police.

The accused is Jayesh alias Shakeer from Shiradi Addahole in Puttur taluk.

He is facing charges of murdered a woman named Soumya and her three-year-old son Jishnu in 2008 in Addahole. Sowmya was Jayesh’s cousin Rohith’s wife.

On Tuesday, Jayesh was brought from Mangaluru Prison to Puttur V Additional Sessions Court for hearing when the episode unfurled.

It is said that after the murder,  he had escaped to Moovattapuram in Kerala where he worked as a vegetable vendor.  In Kerala, he did not just marry a Muslim girl, but had got converted to Islam as well. For next few years, he remained untraced. However, during a fight with his wife, a dejected Jayesh climbed up a coconut tree. After all the confusions and drama, the police reached the spot and took him away. During a talk with the police after the coconut tree episode, he revealed that he was in Kerala after he killed two.

Soon, Uppinangadi police got him from Kerala and he was since then housed in Mangaluru jail, pending trial.

On Tuesday, Jayesh made a desperate attempt to run away from the court, but all his plans met failure when an advocate caught him near Mini Vidhana Soudha, merely a few mts away from the Court.

Soon public joined and Jayesh was caught in minutes.
