Mangalore: A man was found dead under unnatural circumstances at YMCA hostel on February 6, Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as 61-year-old Prof Stephen Vadakkan, who was an author and mathematician by profession. He was a resident of Doopadakatte at Karkala and was staying at the hostel since January 31.

The incident came to light when the watchman passed by the corridor near the room were the professor was staying. He sensed a foul smell emanating from the room and found the  professor dead and his body was decomposed.

Police has suspected this  to be a case of suicide, although the exact reason of the death is not yet known.

Reportedly as per the Police the professor is a divorcee and his son is expected to reach Mangalore from Karkala. Kadri police have registered a case and investigation is on.
