Private bus topples near Kuthrottu, several injured, few critical

Belthangadi: A private bus plying daily between Beltangady and Killur toppled at Kutrottu in the late evening on March 1. Many were injured in the accident as the bus had several passengers.

Driver of the bus lost control due to a technical fault while ascending a small hillock near Kutrottu.

Many ambulances including 108 rushed the injured to hospitals in Ujire, Laila and Beltangady.

Driver named Bhasker, conductor Sahul, forest department staff Balakrishna, Sundari, Pandu and others were seriously injured. They were rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru.

Kuriakose (40), Abdul Rahman (45), Ganesh (35), Prashanth (26), Anand (55) and Lingappa (35) are being treated in the government hospital here. One of them whose condition is said to be critical was later taken to a hospital in Mangaluru.

Belthangady sub inspector accompanied by his staff rushed to the accident spot immediately. Hundreds of people had gathered at the accident spot.
