Mangalore:The prime accused in the case of the murder of one Mohan Ranya reported from Moorukaveri near Kinnigoli in the year 2009, has been arrested. Mohammad Asif (26) hailing from Guttakadu and residing at Bajpe was arrested at Chikmagalur.
The Mulki police have produced Mohammad before the court on October 18. He has now been remanded to judicial custody. Police have earlier arrested one Isubu of Madur in connection with the murder. Interrogations of Isubu had revealed that Asif was the main accused. He had fled abroad soon after the murder and was arrested when he returned recently.
The murder had taken place in the year 2009 when Ranya who was returning home was killed during a communal clash reportedly for the reason that he was wearing an orange coloured lungi.
