Mangaluru: Powerful wind, rain, and lightning had struck some parts of Dakshina Kannada district on Monday, March 29.

Several places recorded fallen trees, electric poles, and tree branches, among other items. Trees fell on high tension lines in a few areas, triggering power outages.

Fishing boats anchored at the old port were also blown away by the strong wind. After their ropes were snapped, many boats drifted out of their docks at the old harbor. Many of these boats made it to the shore at Panambur, Meenakaliya, Chitrapur, Surathkal, Sasihithlu, and other locations.

Many boats have been destroyed, creating additional problems for fishermen who are already in dire straits.
