Managaluru: There was high drama at the press meet held on May 9 at JvR Lobo’s election office in the city. An irate B Janardhana Poojary slammed KPCC General Secretary U B Venkatesh and Dakshina Kannada District Congress President Harish Kumar for leaving the press meet midway on May 9.

Former minister and senior Congress leader Janardhana Poojary was invited to the press conference in support of the Congress MLA candidate J R Lobo against BJP’s alleged false campaign in Mangaluru.

As the press meet continued for longer than expected, Venkatesh and Harish Kumar left the stage to escort former finance minister Chidambaram to airport without seeking permission from Poojary. Angered by the lack of courtesy shown, Poojary stopped his speech midway and slammed the leaders.

An irate Poojary said, “Why did they come here? Is this a joke? Haven’t I seen Chidambaram? If BJP reveals what Chidambaram has done, Congress will be completely destroyed.”

Prior to this incident, Poojary also supported MLA candidate J R Lobo and said that the latter had worked for the city without discriminating against anyone, irrespective of their caste.

Poojary also alleged that efforts were on to malign J R Lobo. “JR Lobo is not a casteist. He has worked for all communities and castes without discrimination. Few people are projecting Lobo as anti-Bunt community but it is a lie,” Poojary said.

Poojary also assured that the Congress would win all the eight constituencies of Dakshina Kannada.

Poojary said that Congress would win the Karnataka elections but advised Siddaramaiah to change his arrogant nature. If Siddaramaiah doesn’t change he will learn a lesson in the future elections, he cautioned.
