Mangaluru: The prime minister should intervene immediately and remove Sakshi Maharaj and Sadhvi Prachi for making remarks on Rahul Gandhi’s Kedarnath visit, said Senior congress leader B Janardhan Poojary here at a press meet on Tuesday.

Attacking VHP leaders, Poojary said when the whole world is mourning for the massive earthquake that struck Nepal, these so called leaders are bringing politics into it and are insulting the country. There is no humanity left in them, he said.

Few days back Sakshi Maharaj had reportedly said: “Rahul Gandhi eats beef and goes to the holy shrine without purifying himself. The earthquake was bound to happen.” Sadhvi Prachi’s statement: “Whenever Rahul Gandhi visits a place, he brings along destruction. During his Uttarakhand visit earlier, there was devastation. Now he has caused an earthquake” also stirred controversy.

He also lashed out at another BJP MP Giriraj Singh who made remarks against Sonia Gandhi.

Janardhan Poojary announced that he would donate his April pension of Rs 50,000 to the disaster hit Nepal relief measures. Former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty also promised to donate his one month pension. Rs 1 lac have been donated by Janardhan Poojary’s son to the Nepal relief fund.

The senior leader also said that Sai Baba Mandir has donated Rs 10,000 and Rs 50,000 will be given from Kudroli temple too.

He expressed concern over disaster hit Nepal and asked people to help the country. He appreciated media for its coverage of the Nepal tragedy.
